Hitachi inks MOU with TN for Rs 1,000 cr expansion

Hitachi Energy India Ltd and Hitachi Energy Technologies Services Private Ltd on Tuesday signed memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government for a Rs 1,000 crore expansion.

The MOU was signed in presence of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at the Secretariat. Hitachi Energy will expand its facility in Chengalapttu, while Hitachi Energy Technology Services Pvt Ltd will expand its Hitachi Energy Global Technology and Innovation Center in Porur, an official state government release said.

The investments will be made in three to five years’ time and will create 1,000 high-value technical jobs at Global Technology and Innovation Center (GTIC) in Chennai and establish a new manufacturing facility for semiconductor-based HVAC-to-HVDC conversion equipment.

Industries minister S Keerthana, Chief Secretary M Sai Kumar, Guidance Tamil Nadu Managing Director and CEO Deepak Jacob, Hitachi India Managing Director Venu Nuguri, Hitachi India Growth and Strategy Officer Karthik Krishnamurthi were present during the MOU signing.

Hitachi Energy already has a significant presence in Tamil Nadu through its GTIC in Chennai and HVDC valve manufacturing facility in Chengalpattu, reinforcing the State’s position as a global hub for advanced power technologies, Guidance Tamil Nadu said.

Aligned with Tamil Nadu’s vision for clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and deep technology, this investment further strengthens the State’s leadership in innovation, engineering excellence, and next-generation energy solutions, it added.
