Each selected athlete will receive a monthly stipend of ₹40,000 along with scientific training to help them prepare for national and international competitions, according to a statement.
SBI Foundation MD & CEO Sanjay Prakash said the initiative aims to provide recognition, resources, and confidence to para-athletes, while IIT Madras Dean (Alumni and Corporate Relations) Prof. Ashwin Mahalingam said it aligns with the institute’s commitment to diversity and inclusion in sports.
Technical assistance will be provided by Acrophase, an IIT Madras Centre of Excellence for Human Performance, led by Prof. Mohanasankar Sivaprakasam.
