Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata airports continue to dominate the passenger growth trajectory. Catching pace close behind is the Chennai airport. It’s strategic location and other added advantages are propelling this.

“Chennai airport will be handling over 23 million passengers during the FY-2023-24 given the implementation of the Airports Authority of India’s (AAI) various passenger friendly initiatives,” said C V Deepak, Director, Chennai Airport with a sense of pride.

Deepak took charge from May this year. A commerce graduate from the prestigious Loyola College, Chennai, Deepak is a Cost & Management Accoun1tant with a MBA. He is also an International Airport Professional (IAP) recognised by the Airport Council International (ACI) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as having achieved high standards for expertise in airport management. His experience and expertise come in handy to modernise facilities. “Chennai airport as a gateway has a lot more to offer to the discerning air passengers and AAI has been constantly adding new amenities in its endeavour of providing customer delight,” highlighted Deepak.
The facilities are being constantly upgraded and newer amenities taking recourse to modern technological tools ensure utmost passenger safety and hassle-free air travel experience while even transiting.

Chennai Airport’s added advantage is the ease of connectivity to different modes of public transport right at its door step. The domestic and international airport are at a trolleying distance. “As part of our continuing education and awareness creation programme, we conduct training for private cab drivers who are one of the first point of interface with the travellers,” said Deepak.

AAI plans to make Chennai airport as a technology savvy gateway with the installation of Passenger Flow Management System (PFMS), Digiyatra for ensuring hassle-free check-in procedure, Integrated Operations Control Centre (IOCC) which integrates both the operation and security control centre in one place, along with full body scanners and mobile app indicating services/facilities.
