Adopting a multidisciplinary approach, Tarika has explored the singular theme of Happiness through perspectives from diverse fields of study. She expresses her insights and reflections through a variety of art forms, ranging from tapestries to sculptures. With this body of work, she aims to depict her interpretation of Happiness—a universal yet often elusive emotion—in creative and thought-provoking ways, said a statement.

Speaking about her choice of theme, Tarika said: I chose happiness because it is something every human being seeks, and it’s a truly universal emotion. At the same time, many people find it difficult to attain a true sense of well-being. This idea lends itself naturally to abstract art, and I felt confident I could present it in a meaningful and artistic manner.”

Her mentor, Diana Shatish, stated that the two studied the idea of happiness through positive psychology and decolonial thought, which Tarika then translated into richly layered tapestries using weaving, painting, collage, sewing, and natural dyes.

Tarika, daughter of Srivats Ram, Managing Director of Wheels India Ltd, has previously held three solo exhibitions in Chennai on the Tirukkural and participated in group shows in Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and New York.

She has also created installations during Navarathri on varied themes such as the ocean, the Amazon rainforest, Japan, the human brain, money, and climate change.
