The event was held at Guidance Tamil Nadu’s office, organised by the Department of Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce.
These investments, spanning sectors including Global Capability Centres (GCCs), Research and Development (R&D) centres, manufacturing, and higher education, are expected to generate more than 2,920 direct and indirect jobs in Tamil Nadu, according to an official statement.
Two leading global companies, Chubb from Switzerland and Nordex from Germany, are setting up their Global Capability Centres and R&D centres in Chennai for the first time in Tamil Nadu. Chubb’s centre is expected to create 220 jobs, while Nordex’s centre is expected to create 1,000 jobs. Together, these two investments will generate a total of 1,220 high-quality jobs, it said.
These investments will further strengthen Chennai’s position as a key international hub for high-value Global Capability Centres and research activities. Notably, these investments are aligned with the Chief Minister’s vision of promoting innovation-led industrial growth, attracting knowledge-intensive investments, and creating high-quality employment opportunities for skilled talent, the statement added.
Additionally, in the higher education sector, the University of Western Australia (UWA) will establish its India campus in Chennai under the UGC (Setting up and Operation of Campuses of Foreign Higher Educational Institutions in India) Regulations, 2023. This will be the first international university campus to be set up in Tamil Nadu. Founded in 1911, the university is ranked 77th in the QS World University Rankings 2026. The campus, to be built on approximately 50,000 square feet in Velachery, Chennai, will involve an investment of about Rs. 125 crore and is expected to generate more than 200 direct and indirect jobs.
Following up on State Industries Minister Keerthana visit to South Korea in June 2026 , MotiveLink, a lSouth Korean auto-components manufacturer, has signed an MoU to set up a manufacturing facility at SIPCOT Pillaipakkam Industrial Park, Kancheepuram district, with an investment of Rs. 300 crore. This is expected to create 1,500 jobs.
“These investments would fulfil the aspirations of Tamil Nadu’s youth and play a key role in establishing Tamil Nadu as a global hub for Global Capability Centres, R&D, higher education and advanced manufacturing. He further assured that the Government of Tamil Nadu would continue to extend all necessary support to facilitate these companies’ investments and ensure their operations succeed in Tamil Nadu,” Vijay said.
