TN inks pact worth Rs 2,700 crore in lifesciences

The Tamil Nadu government has signed memorandum of understandings with eight companies from the lifesciences sector at the Vetri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026.

The investments span across biologics manufacturing, medical devices, diagnostics and vaccines.

Caplin Group of Companies will invest Rs 925 crore, including a new integrated biologics and biosimilars R&D and manufacturing facility in Tiruvallur — Tamil Nadu’s first facility of this scale built for regulated global markets.

S3V Vascular Technologies, an Indian medtech innovator, will invest Rs 525 crore in Kanchipuram to manufacture cardiovascular and neurovascular implants, its first such facility in the country.

Cellbios Healthcare & Lifesciences, which describes itself as the world’s largest manufacturer of specialised freezing bags for cell and gene therapy, will invest Rs 150 crore across Dindigul and Krishnagiri. Green Signal Bio Pharma, among India’s leading BCG vaccine manufacturers, will invest Rs 130 crore in Tiruvallur.

In her key note address at the conclave, State Industries Minister S. Keerthana pointed out that in life sciences State ranks ninth based on share of national output and the gap needs to be addressed.
