Public views sought on boosting TN revenue

The Tamil Nadu Government constituted Revenue Augmentation Committee under the chairpersonship of Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Economist, former Deputy Chairman of erstwhile Union Planning Commission has sought views and suggestions from the public.

The Committee, at its first meeting held on 31st July 2026, has resolved to invite views and suggestions from the general public, associations, academicians, research scholars and institutions engaged in the field of public finance, a statement said.

The views and suggestions were invited with reference to the measures to augment the State’s Own Tax and Non-Tax revenues and to improve revenue buoyancy, efficiency and self-reliance, it said.

Views and suggestions on any other matter relevant to the State’s revenues, were also welcome, the statement said.

The views and suggestions cab be sent by e-mail to tnrac@tn.gov.in so as to reach the Committee, preferably before 11th August 2026, it said.
