The MoUs were signed during Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s official visit to Germany, part of an overseas investment tour that includes both Germany and the United Kingdom.

The investment agreements were formally signed on September 1 in Düsseldorf. Among the key deals, Knorr-Bremse, a global leader in braking systems and rail components, committed to invest ₹2,000 crore in new facilities in Kanchipuram and Chennai. The project, which focuses on manufacturing advanced rail doors and braking systems, is expected to create around 3,500 jobs. This investment is poised to significantly strengthen Tamil Nadu’s rapidly growing rail component manufacturing sector, according to an official release.

The second agreement was signed with the Nordex Group, a leading wind turbine manufacturer. The company plans to expand its existing facility in Thiruvallur district with an investment of ₹1,000 crore, creating about 2,500 new jobs. This expansion further reinforces Tamil Nadu’s leadership in the renewable energy sector.

The third MoU was signed with ebm-papst, a German company specializing in energy-efficient motors and fans. The company plans to invest ₹201 crore over the next five years to expand its global competency centre and production operations in Chennai, generating 250 new jobs. ebm-papst is a global leader in electronically commutated motor technology and serves industries such as HVAC, automotive, refrigeration, and industrial automation.

In addition to the MoU signings, Chief Minister Stalin held high-level discussions with top executives of the BMW Group in Munich. The talks centered on the company’s existing plant in Chengalpattu district and explored future expansion plans in Tamil Nadu, particularly in the electric vehicle segment, the release added.
