This bill will allow President Trump to punish those countries who buy cheap Russian oil, he said in a post on X.

“This bill would give President Trump tremendous leverage against countries like China, India and Brazil to incentivize them to stop buying the cheap Russian oil that provides the financing for Putin’s bloodbath against Ukraine,” Graham said.

I have been working on for months with Senator Blumenthal and many others on the bill. I look forward to a strong bipartisan vote, hopefully as early as next week, he said.

“India is now buying substantially less Russian oil,” Graham recently told reporters aboard Air Force One along with Trump.

The US has levied a 50 per cent tariff on India (with 25 per cent being imposed in August as punishment for buying Russian oil). The trade deal between the two nations is yet to be finalised and experts have called for quick resolution.
