The new feature allows users in Chennai to plan metro journeys, purchase QR-based tickets and access real-time transit information within the Uber app. Payments will be accepted exclusively through UPI.
As part of the launch, Uber is offering a 50 per cent discount on metro tickets until August 31. It is also offering 50 per cent off, up to  Rs 20, on Uber Auto and Uber Moto rides starting or ending at metro stations through the same period.
Chennai is the second city in India to get metro ticketing through Uber, after Delhi.
Manikandan Thangarathnam, Senior Director – Mobility and Platforms of  Uber, said the partnership would help simplify multimodal travel and enhance commuting convenience. CMRL Managing Director M.A. Siddique said,  “This move would strengthen last-mile connectivity for metro passengers.”
The integration expands Uber’s multimodal offerings in Chennai, which already include two-wheelers, autos, cars and buses.
