The Chief Minister announced that Sipcot will establish a Semiconductor and Electronics Manufacturing Park in Madhuramangalam, Kancheepuram district, at a cost of Rs 175 crore.
A world-class R&D (Research and Development) facility will be set up to enable new factories in the semiconductor sector, he said.
The park is expected to attract around Rs 2,000 crore in investments and create approximately 5,000 direct and indirect jobs, Vijay said.
TIDCO will establish the Coimbatore FinTech Hub at a projected cost of Rs 400 crore, with public and private participation, to develop digital financial services through FinTech innovations, he said.
The hub will feature world-class facilities, modern laboratories, training and skill-development infrastructure, helping attract global investment and create high-quality jobs, Vijay said.
He also said to attract investment through multimodal logistics infrastructure, TIDCO will study and prepare a project report and based on it a Multi-Modal Logistics Hub will be set up in the Tiruchirappalli region.
The announcement comes after the government in the budget for 2026-2027 announced that it will strive to set up more Multi Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) and Dry Ports at strategic locations, and to establish petrochemical and ancillary industries.
Meanwhile, Vijay announced further increase in milk procurement price to Rs 44 from Rs 41, for which the government will incur Rs 720 crore annually.
