But we regret in leisure, the anger let out in haste. With the benefit of hindsight, we realise our stupidity. By the time we return to normal, we know that considerable time and energy have just disappeared in thin air. Why did I feel slighted when the Industrial Economist was not invited for a press briefing called by the homegrown technology company behind the Arattai messaging app few weeks ago? Is it because I feel I am big? Is it because I feel that the Industrial Economist is given a short shrift?
Why did I message the communication agency that organised the media gathering? Why did I send a Whatsapp message to the company chief? Perhaps, a sense of assumed importance had taken over me. It is like asking why someone is not loving me. So what if we are not invited. Time always has a calming influence. It also has the knack of teaching. Notwithstanding the good, bad and ugly on the way, one has to keep moving towards the goal post like a blinkered-horse. Being in knowledge space, a fair understanding is sine qua non for rationalisation of the outcome. Nearly four decades into the journalism world, the learning never ceases for this writer. Well, the phrase “missing the woods for the trees” hits me alright!
