Congratulations to Venu Srinivasan and TVS Motors for bagging the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence Award for Sustainable Development under the categories of corporate excellence and corporate social responsibilities. The latter award was received by TVS Motors for the second time.
I am an admirer of the silent and sustained commitment of Venu Srinivasan and his company engaged in a vast range of activities for social amelioration.
Decades ago the trust set up the Srinivasan Centre for Vocational Training that enabled hundreds to gain proficiency in a variety of vocational skills. The training provided by experts enabled the trainees to get absorbed in a wide range of engineering and electronics industries at handsome wages.
The trust has also been engaged in rural development. Srinivasan Services Trust (SST) has been instrumental in empowering over 5000 villages across the country inculcating sustainable form of living. In Tamil Nadu alone, SST has been engaged in such work in close to 4000 villages impacting over five lakh families and close to 23 lakh individuals.
