The India in 2047 National Case Competition 2023 witnessed the emergence of three standout teams. Following intense semi-finals in Bengaluru, Pune, and Gurgaon, the top 8 teams from notable institutions such as Chandigarh University, Lovely Professional University, Loyola Institute of Business Administration, Ahmedabad University, CMS Business School Jain, TA Pai Management Institute, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India gathered in ICFAI Hyderabad to showcase their prowess.

The event commenced with a keynote address by T N Manoharan, the author of Tech Phoenix and a key figure in the Satyam turnaround. He highlighted the significance of the turnover which caught the attention of several developed economies. The successful intervention by the government helped rectify the situation, benefiting employees, clients, and recarving the image of the Indian IT industry. Manoharan highlighted India’s growth stemming from its demographic dividend but pointed out its lag in crucial metrics like the human development index, per capita income, health security, and happiness index.

This was followed by the finale presentations. Each team had to assume that they were the 7th appointed board member and what they would have done differently. As each team presented their ideas, the jury comprising of A S Murthy – former CTO of Tech Mahindra, Ganesh Sankararaman – SVP Finance of Sify, Ganesh Balakrishnan – Partner Deloitte, Sanjib Dutta of ICFAI Case Research Centre and Jayanthi Raghunathan – Editor of Industrial Economist evaluated them. The three teams that took the top spot were:

Khushi Khabani & Pooja M from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India – 1st Place

Shashi Rekha KU & Maanya Chandran of CMS Business School Jain – 2nd Place

Jeyaram Lakshman & Rishabh from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India – 3rd Place

Next, Dr Anbuthambi Bhojarajan took centre stage with an entertaining quiz that kept the audiences at the edge of their seats in splits. The event progressed with a panel discussion where various aspects of India in 2047 were discussed by Jayanthi Raghunathan – Editor of Industrial Economist, Ganesh Balakrishnan – Partner Deloitte, Ganesh Sankararaman – SVP Finance of Sify, A S Murthy – former CTO of Tech Mahindra and V Pattabhi Ram of Prime 5C.
