The company’s electric passenger vehicle journey officially began in 2021 with the launch of the BYD e6, India’s first all-electric MPV. Since then, it has expanded significantly and now has a strong retail and service footprint across 37 cities, with 44 showrooms, 24 service workshops, and a network of 18 dedicated dealer partners.

Today, BYD is present in nearly every major Indian city, bringing electric mobility closer to consumers nationwide. Relux Electric has partnered with BYD to provide hassle-free charging services to customers.

BYD’s EV portfolio in India includes the e6, E-MAX 7—India’s first electric EMTV, the Eco3—a sporty electric SUV, the Seal—a luxury performance electric sedan, and its newest model, the Seal S7, a pure-performance electric SUV.

Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles at BYD India, said the 10,000-customer milestone reflects the growing trust in BYD’s vision for sustainable mobility. He credited customer referrals as a key driver of growth.

Headquartered in Chennai, BYD India was established in 2007 and operates in four sectors: electric passenger vehicles, electric commercial vehicles, material and analytical equipment, and electronics. It runs two manufacturing facilities across 35 acres, employing over 3,000 people.

Globally, BYD is ranked 91st on the Fortune Global 500, with $107 billion in revenue in 2024 and a 29% growth rate, highlighting its EV leadership. The company has built a strong R&D base with 11 research institutes, 100,000+ R&D professionals, and an average of 15 patents authorized daily.

BYD is the only automaker to master all core technologies across the EV value chain. Its major innovations include the blade battery, E-platform 3.0, DM-i super hybrid technology, and cell-to-body (CTB) technology.

The E-Platform 3.0 integrates the blade battery with a high-efficiency 8-in-1 powertrain for safety and performance. The blade battery has set new global standards, passing the Mount Everest Nail Penetration Test and withstanding a 46-ton truck roll-over. It offers fast charging, long range, extended life, and top-tier safety.
