Heat wave sets in
The Indian summer is yet to descend in its full glory. As mercury levels begin to rise, many places in Chennai have been declared ‘drought-hit’. According to the sources at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai, heat stress is likely to occur in the interiors of Tamil Nadu. The RMC forecasts heat stress conditions in Vellore, Salem, Tiruchirapalli, Tiruvannamalai, and Madurai. The temperatures are expected to rise by 2-3 degrees above average. Twenty four districts have been declared ‘drought-hit’. With the storage levels in reservoirs supplying water to Chennai depleting steadily, Chennai is all set to feel the heat!
Chennai Super Kings – great start
It’s “Whistle Podu” time as the IPL comes back to Chennai this year. The grand 2019 IPL opener at the MA Chidambaram Stadium was the clash between the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was a carnival feeling in the city as CSK fans do not just throng the stands of the Chepauk Stadium during a training session, but thousands had also queued up the entire night to buy tickets for the opening match. The city was painted yellow by the CSK fans on a match day where CSK beat RCB by seven wickets.
