He was so accessible!

The Southern India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCI) and other industry bodies in Tamil Nadu presented a dozen business leaders to pay homage to ex-chief minister M Karunanidhi (MK) for his rich contribution to the industrial development of the state.

It was a welcome sight to see business leaders of the state coming together. The speakers spoke on their personal experiences of interacting with Karunanidhi. Many of these provided interesting nuggets. A few liberally exceeded the suggested time limit of 7-10 minutes. DMK Chief, M K Stalin, other members of the Karunanidhi family and senior members of the DMK and legislators sat through the three hour long meeting.

MK’s four terms as chief minister witnessed industrial development in traditional and emerging sectors. Tidel Park was inaugurated during his tenure and provided a big push to the growth of the IT sector in the state. MK also promoted electronic hardware manufacture.

Of course, the business leaders had much easier access to the chief minister.
One wishes business leaders to come together more often on development issues.
