Kotak Mahindra Bank MD Ashok Vaswani to quit

Kotak Mahindra Bank said its Managing Director & CEO Ashok Vaswani has informed the bank’s board that he does not wish to seek re-appointment upon completion of his current term on 31 December 2026.

Ashok Vaswani has cited personal reasons, the bank said in a regulatory filing.

The board has respected his decision and has initiated the process for the appointment of a new Managing Director & CEO. The process will be completed within applicable regulatory timelines, it added.

In 2023, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had approved the appointment of Ashok Vaswani as the bank’s Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, for a period of three years.

Ashok was Chief Executive Officer of Barclays Bank, UK and subsequently CEO of their Global Consumer, Private, Corporate and Payments businesses and Member of the Group Executive Committee. Earlier, Ashok was CEO Citigroup Asia Pacific and Member of the Citigroup Global Operating & Management Committees.
