Indigo stays leader with 40 per cent share

Budget carrier Indigo remained the market leader in the domestic air passenger segment during the first four months of this calendar year with 40 per cent share.

Jet Airways stood at Number Two position with a market share of 15.2 per cent in April (down from 15.6 per cent in Q1 of 2017), followed by Air India and SpiceJet each with 12.9 per cent. GoAir had a market share of 8.1 per cent in April.

During April this year, Indigo had a market share of 41.4 per cent, up from 39.7 per cent in Q1 of 2017.

But in terms of passenger load factor, Spice Jet had the highest percentage of 91-94 per cent during March and April, followed by AirAsia (87-90 per cent) and GoAir (84-85 per cent). Indigo had 81-86 per cent and Jet Airways’ load factor was in the range of 79-83 per cent.

With 87.4 per cent punctuality rate, Vistara topped the On-Time Performance (OTP) chart of scheduled domestic airlines in four metro airports -- Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. Spice Jet and Indigo had OTP of 85 per cent each.
