Pocket Therapist finds mention in Forbes

A smartwatch by Lumme Inc that throws interventions when you smoke has put its Chennai born CEO, Akshaya Shanmugam, on ‘Forbes 30 under 30’ list. Combining behavioral psychology and machine learning, the sensors in the wearable device passively capture data relevant to smoking cravings of an individual like movements, having a cup of coffee, watching TV, stress at work, social interactions and time of the day. In detecting patterns of addictive behaviour, it predicts when the wearer would light the next cigarette and sends personalised texts to prevent lapses. The smartwatch has accomplished 95 per cent accuracy in two national scale clinical trials. At 29, Akshaya, an alumnus of Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College, promises to make more meaningful contributions in the field of healthcare.
