TTV stumps all

The RK Nagar constituency held by former chief minister J Jayalalithaa has thrown up an extraordinary surprise. Independent candidate Hatman TTV Dhinakaran obtained more than 50 per cent of the popular votes to beat the might of the AIADMK and that of the DMK. While many believed that being a AIADMK bastion, the ruling party would bag it with ease, some argued that the surge in favour of the DMK would see the party   scale up; the result has been plain surprising. The absolute irony ofcourse is how the national party, the BJP fared. Its candidate polled less than NOTA! That’s worse than losing your deposit - which all contestants other than the AIADMK candidate did.
