Wabco launches safety system

Wabco, a global player in safety and control systems for trucks and buses, is bullish on Indian market due to growing adoption of safety parts in commercial vehicles in India. “As India has become a production hub for brake actuators, we are giving stronger focus in this market,” stated Jacques Esculier, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Wabco Holdings.

Wabco group has five manufacturing units, a 200-acre vehicle testing facility and a technology centre in India.  Its present capacity is about 45,000 systems a month and the current capacity utilisation is about 85 per cent, according to to P Kaniappan, Managing Director. With close to 4400 employees, Wabco India accounts for one third of Wabco’s global workforce. Also, a third of its engineers in India are involved in design and development of new systems and products. 

Wabco India is also a strong exporter of parts and last year its exports stood at Rs 550 crore.
