Scoot offers just Rs.13,500 to ANZ...

Singapore Airlines (SIA) forays into the budgeted airline segment in India with the inauguration of Scoot services from Singapore to Amritsar and Chennai. Scoot has been the favourite low-cost carrier since its launch in Singapore on June 2012 and is the world’s first all - Boeing 787 Dreamliners. It is expected to take over the Singapore – Chennai daily service from Tigerair that would add to the capacity of SIA to serve more customers.

As of now, the flights have been scheduled from Singapore to Chennai and Amritsar and vice-versa. As a promotional offer, the price has been fixed for a one-way journey at Rs 5300 (Singapore to Chennai) and Rs 13,500 (Chennai to Sydney/Melbourne), that would prevail for a week. Scoot has planned to include Chennai, Coimbatore and Tiruchi in its air network that can extend SIA coverage to 15 cities in India.

With Scoot, Chennai passengers could experience leisure airline comforts at a modest cost. The airline may also boost the investment and tourist flow to and fro Singapore driving the aviation sector that contributes to around 6 per cent of GDP.
