With expanding vehicle range, Hinduja flagship Ashok Leyland is equipping itself to bid for a higher share of defence tenders. “We have developed capabilities to bid for 20-25 per cent of the tenders of the Indian Army as against less than one per cent earlier, “said Vinod K. Dasari, MD, Ashok Leyland.
AL has expanded its defence product range and can now supply contour military vehicles, missile carriers and tracked vehicles. “We are proud to have won 31 tenders in the last two years; this alone will result in cumulative revenues of over Rs 5000 crore, over the next decade,” said Amandeep Singh, Head – Defence, Ashok Leyland. The company expects more significant opportunity in tracked vehicles (tanks such T-72, T-90, etc.) and showcased six advanced-technology products and solutions at Chennai’s DefExpo 2018.
